The service has been in use for a number of years and offered detailed weather forecasts for the West Highlands, East Highlans, the Lakes and Snowdonia, by return fax, or an answer phone.The reason for the drop in demand is almost certainly because the Internet now provides an adequate and cheaper alternative. There has been some criticism locally that this decision could risk lives and the Met Office are requesting feedback from the Mountaincall section of their web site. ( Source: Met Office )
