Climbing reports that Nicolas and Olivier Favresse, Sean Villanueva and Mike Lecomte have made a rare repeat of Riders On The Storm on the South Face of the Central Tower of Paine in Patagonia. The 1,300m route was established in 1991 by the legendary Wolfgang Gullich, Kurt Albert and co and weighs in at a hefty VI, 5.12d, A3. The Belgian team spent 11 days on the wall. Meanwhile Tommy Caldwell continues to excel on big walls, having recently made a team onsight ascent, in a single push, of the 4,000 foot 5.12+ Linea di Eleganza on Fitz Roy. He climbed the route with Topher Donahue and Erik Roed. Bean Bowers and Josh Wharton have free climbed the Casarotto route, also on Fitz Roy. They climbed the 1,200m route in 16 hours from glacier to summit. Not to be outdone, Alex Huber and Stephan Siegrist have established a new 25 pitch route on the South face of Aguja Desmochada. Golden Eagle went at 5.11+ with one 15 foot aid section.
