It was only a few weeks ago that I was writing about the spike in sales, and the shortage of crampons and axes, so good were the winter conditions (Crampons, Crampons, Crampons……and Axes) .Hopefully over the weekend and into next week it will be sunscreen and sun glasses, however looking at all the forecasts there will be some rain and even wintery showers up north. Grab it while you can. The rock is dry and warm over most of the UK at the moment.I was out in Borrowdale earlier this week; in the other photo UKClimbing.com's Editor Jack Geldard, in his other job as a freelance instructor for Plas y Brenin, guides a client up Spiral Stairs on the Cromlech in Llanberis Pass. Always good to check the forums for eye-witness reports: Lakes mountain crags this weekend?
Keith Sharples emailed us last night with a Malham report (click to enlarge the photo):
“On the hottest day of the year so far, Malham was a veritable white-hot caldron of limestone yesterday. The sky was a cloudless deep azure blue, the wind conspicuous by its absence and the crag was almost bone dry ? it was as if the south of France had been shipped lock, stock and smoking barrels into the middle of England.” Read and see more at blog.keithsharplesphotography.co.ukFingers crossed for more good weather; ice on the Ben and the warmth of spring in the valleys. Have a great weekend wherever you are.REMINDERIf you are around on Monday, Dan Middleton, Technical Officer of the BMC is doing a question and answer session about Gear at the UKClimbing.com forums.
