Sad News – Pembrokeshire

Many Pembrokeshire devotees and climbers will be saddened to hear of the tragic news of the death of Don Weston, (Mrs Weston?s husband). He collapsed and died on Sat evening at his home following what appears to be a sudden domestic illness. Many climbers will know the famous Mrs Weston?s Tearooms at Bosherston, but may not have been been aware that Don was the ?Main Kitchen Backroom Boy? who supervised and prepared the many breakfasts, afternoon teas and who kept those teapots charged for thousands of climbers over many years. Don was only occasionally seen out on the front lawn outside the kitchens but he was the 74yr old spritely, dapper, well groomed gentlemen who could be seen flitting back and forth now and again ferrying supplies in his Jag motor car. I knew Don personally and he was a great character, who was well liked and respected by the armies of climbers he and Mrs Weston served with food from dawn till dusk over many years. They had been married 52 yrs. I sure we all extend our deepest sympathy and wishes of support to Mrs Weston and her family during this sad time.Carl Ryan
