by Alan James Rob Gauntlett and James Hooper are attempting to become the youngest Britons to reach the summit of Mount Everest. They are climbing as part of a larger expedition, from the Tibet side, via the North Ridge. Having successfully acclimatised the pair hope to summit early in May, but this is obviously dependent on the weather. The current record for the youngest Brit to summit Everest was set by 21 year old Jake Meyer in June 2005. Rob and James are both most likely to be just 19 if they reach the top. In fact Rob?s 19th birthday is on 10th May, which is historically the most summitted day.Rob and James are climbing in aid of Cancer Research UK, a charity which means a great deal to them both.
