Members of the British Competition Climbing Team will be flying off to the European Championships in Chamonix (France) on the 10-13th July.The Team will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Ian Vickers, who won the Leading title in 1998.Hotly tipped for success is Malcolm Smith from the Bouldering Team. Malcolm is currently leading the World Cup series having recently won round 2 of the Bouldering World Cup in Lecco (Italy), he is currently leading the series after 2 events out of 5. Malcolm is also the four times British Bouldering Champion. Accompanying Malcolm will be other leading British Boulderers Gareth Parry, Miles Gibson, Andrew Earl and Chris Graham.Also hoping for success are ex British Champions Steve McClure and Lucy Creamer, who along with Adrian Baxter will be trying to emulate Ian in lifting the Leading title.Following on from the event Dave Binney (the Leading Team Manager and Coach) will be taking Steve, Lucy and Adrian on a week long training trip in the Bernese Oberland, in the company of 4 members the British Youth Team (Jamie Cassidy, Emma Twyford, Rob Elliott and Stew Watson). The Bouldering Team will be heading off for their week long training session immediately after the Rovereto (Italy) round of the Bouldering World Cup in September.
