Demon Direct IX,9 Onsight

Demon Direct IX,9, one of Scotland hardest mixed routes has had an onsight 2nd ascent by Dave MacLeod and Gareth Hughes. MacLeod led both pitches, succeeding narrowly on the overhanging thin crack of Pitch 1 after almost dropping a tool while attempting to clip an in-situ peg at the crux.After retreating twice from the final roof to a rest, Dave completed the pitch and led the easier final pitch (having done this before as part of the neighbouring route Happy Tyroleans). Dave confirmed the IX grade of this, his third IX route this season so far.
