Dorset Access Update from Steve Taylor

Dorset County Council have just starting putting maps on the internet showing which public footpaths are now open – a very positive approach! Visit it here. In addition to what is currently posted on the BMC site, we can now climb at The Lost Valley. Climbers should park at the Cheyne Weares viewpoint and make their way along the main road from there. The only areas on Portland which cannot be accessed are from Cheyne Cliff southwards to Cave Hole (inclusive). Note that access to Battleship Edge/Blacknor Far South/Wallsend North via Reap Lane and the climbers Car Park in Weston is still banned! Some (very few) climbers are still using these access points. The walk along the base of the cliff from Blacknor North to these cliffs has become “established” over the last two months!!!
