Emma Twyford concentrating on the start of Fun de Chinhunne (F8a), Photo: Sarah MessengerBritish climber Emma Twyford is currently on the island of Kalymnos, Greece. Ten days in to her three week trip, on Friday 22nd of October, she managed to onsight the 40m tufa-fest of Fun de Chinhunne (F8a) in the famous Grande Grotta. The route was originally graded F8a+, but has now settled to F8a. The endurance route is a huge roof on large tufa stalactites, and has 28 bolts. Emma was on the route for around two hours.Earlier in her trip she also managed a stylish onsight of the classic and much photographed F7c Aegialis.Neil Foster who witnessed Emma's Aegialis ascent commented:”I watched Emma on sight Aegialis in the Grande Grotta on Wednesday, and it was extremely impressive. I had just failed on the route (though I did get pretty high up!) so I know first hand just how steep and strenuous it is!”Emma has around a week left on the island and is apparently just getting in to the swing of things – good luck!
