by Mick Ryan – UKClimbing.com click to enlarge As I write the Field and Trek shop in Ambleside, Cumbria is on fire. Situated in the Market Cross plaza adjacent to Gayner´s, Fat Face, Tresspass, Tog 24, Lakeland and the Piano Bar. As far as I know no one has been hurt. The fire started in the roof space about an hour ago. One engine and crew from Cumbria Fire Service are fighting the fire, directing their hoses into the now collapsing roof. The smoke is thick and acrid and the fire seems to be creeping into the Fat Face store and the Piano Bar (see photo). More photos and reports on the associated forum thread HERE UKCLIMBING.COM VIDEO.
