UKClimbing report that Dave Birkett and Mark Edwards, two of the UK´s finest climbers, have made the first full winter ascent of Gimmer Crack in Langdale, one of the UK´s finest VS´s. Birkett, responsible for many of the hardest routes in the UK, and in his own words, many of the best, said that this was the best route he has ever done! They have graded the ascent VII 8, obviously one of the hardest winter routes in the Lakes.
