Jim Perrin shortlisted for Welsh Literary Award

North Wales based writer, Jim Perrin, twice winner of the Boardman Tasker Prize and recipient of the 2005 Banff Mountaineering History Award, gets deserved wider acclaim with his definitive collection of climbing essays being shortlisted for the Wales Book of the Year in English.The shortlists of three books, one list in English and one in Welsh, were announced this evening at the Hay Festival. Jim Perrin´s, The Climbing Essays, is up against a collection of poetry entitled Growth Rings by Christine Evans and Lloyd Jones´ novel Mr Cassini for the £10,000 first prize that will be announced on the 9th July at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff. The runners up will receive £1000 each. Perrin´s essays were described by the judges as “quirky and rule-breaking”.
