A successful opening meeting has been held in the Midlands to discuss the potential purchase of Markfield Quarry by the local council for use as a conservation and recreation site. The meeting was chaired by Colin Knowles and attended by more than 30 people including representatives from the local council. The open meeting set up a Markfield Quarry Coordination Group to negotiate and develop an agreement with the council with regard to climbing access at Markfield. The group will report its progress to the BMC Midlands Area committee.
