Weekly Odds & Sods

Last weekend saw a whole lot of BRYCS action with the final round for Scotland, and the first round for England and Wales. You can see how everybody did at Indoors Out. If you fancy entering either of the next two round in England and Wales it is not too late. They take place on May 6th and May 20th. Check out the BMC website for details. Set in the heart of the English Lake District, the picturesque Cumbrian market town of Keswick plans to secure its position as the ?Outdoor Adventure Capital of Britain? with an announcement that it is to host the Keswick Mountain Festival (KMF) in May 2007. Taking place from May 16th ? 19th 2007, the KMF aims to attract visitors of all ages to the area to enjoy a variety of different outdoor pursuits.  The Festival itself will offer an activity-based programme of guided walks, scrambling, watersports, Nordic walking as well as training in conservation and hill skills such as navigation.  There will also be a comprehensive schedule of lectures and talks from outdoor personalities, climbers and mountaineers as well as a series of practical outdoor equipment demonstrations involving suppliers, local retailers and activity providers. www.keswickmountainfestival.co.uk Following John Cousins´ move to the Mountain Training Trust (MTT), MLTUK is advertising for a new Chief Officer.   Mountain Leader Training UK (MLTUK) is seeking to appoint an individual to manage its business and to act as a spokesperson for mountain training in the UK.
