Gogarth Festival..this Weekend..and Gogarth Writing Competition

See photo of the Y Fricsan and maphere Meet there Friday night or anytime over the weekend whether you are climbing at Gogarth or not. You can camp there too, and Sue has set aside a part of the campsite for the Glorious First Festival, Gogarth. Breakfast barbecue from 8am onwards on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday 3 -8pm there is barbecue and same again Sunday, hog roast and veggie option. Food on Saturday evening is being supplied by the Climbers Club and the BMC, and Sue has arranged a terrific line up of bands over the weekend including: Bandacabana, Loka, Derwyddon , Dr Gonzo, Sesiwnfawr, Wakestock, Drumbago and DJ´s. Camping is £4 per person per night, £2 donation for the music which will be going to the local charity, Clwb Antur Dyffryn Peris who provide outdoor activities for children. Bands will be performing inside and outside. Gogarth Guidebook Writing Competition. Adam Wainwright, the main mover and shaker behind the Gogarth festival just called to announce that they are also running a Gogarth Guidebook Writing Competition.. Climbers are invited to write 1,000 words about their Gogarth adventure experience, whether it be repeating exisiting routes or establishing new routes. The overall winner will receive the original John Redhead artwork, Never Mind The Puffins used for the poster promoting the Glorious First and suitable entries will be used in the forthcoming Ground Up guidebook to Gogarth. There will be other prizes, these will be announced later along with entry details. We´ll report on that at UKClimbing.com as soon as we get details. See the Redhead poster here.
