Here?s the latest news round-up from the BMC What´s going on? Stanage – the definitive guide OUT NOW  Hot off the press, the much awaited new BMC definitive guide to Stanage has hit the shelves just in time for the Bank holiday weekend. The guidebook contains all the routes and all the boulder problems at Stanage.  It includes detailed descriptions, full-colour topos, handy maps, action photos, first ascent lists, graded lists and much more.  Innovative features include bouldering circuits and My Favourite Five, where well-known climbers and guidebook contributors share their top routes. The guide is available to buy from planetFear here>> BBC and BLCC application forms now available Application forms for the 2007 national bouldering and lead championships are now available for competitors.  The British Bouldering Championships will be held as part of the Cliffhanger event in Sheffield on 14th (senior) and 15th (junior) July. The British Lead Climbing Championships (BLCC) is the new name for the BICC and will be held on the Blackpool Climbing Towers on 28th (senior) and 29 (junior) July.  Those who wish to take part can download application forms from the BMC website. Details   Youth Climbing Series national finalists announced  174 finalists are now eagerly awaiting the grand final on 30 June at the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena. All the finalists finished in the top three in their regional category of the nationwide regional rounds of the BMC Youth Climbing Series (formerly known as the BRYCS). Details Access at Honister, Lake District The BMC has been in touch with Natural England and the Lake District National Park to clarify the access situation around the Via Ferrata at Honister Slate Mine, Fleetwith Pike, Lake District. BMC Vice President Bill Renshaw has been advised by the National Park that the presence of the Via Ferrata does not and will not affect access rights under the CRoW Act around Honsiter (including Buttermere Fell and Derwent Water) and people are able to access the area as normal. Detail Stubai Tirol crampons – advisory notice Trailwise, the UK distributor for Stubai, have issued an advisory notice for owners of Stubai Tirol crampons. The BMC has been working hard behind the scenes to create a brand new website. The first stage of the upgrade is due to go live very soon.  The website will make it easy for climbers, hill walkers and mountaineers to find information they need.  Watch this cyberspace!! Details As part of the BMC´s commitment to improve administrative support for clubs, a workshop for club officials will take place on 8 June at the BMC office in Manchester. This will provide an opportunity to clarify any aspects of the BMC´s membership renewal process, the civil liability insurance scheme, multiple affiliation refunds and child protection issues. Details ?Climbing and the Environment? is the theme for an open day at the Roaches on Saturday 16 June. This is the first event of its kind hosted by the BMC at the Roaches and all are welcome to attend this free open day which will be packed full of fun from 10am ? 4pm. The day will feature information, workshops and displays from organisations including the Edale Mountain Rescue Team, the National Trust, the Peak National Park and the Whillans hut custodians. During the course of the day you can sample some classic gritstone climbs and find out more about the BMC, Peak Area meetings, and how you can get involved.  There will even be tours to some of the hidden gems (climbing routes!) at the Roaches.
