BMC Summer International Meet – Hosts Needed

The BMC International Summer Meet is taking place 7 – 14 May at Plas Y Brenin this year. The meet is run every two years during the most perfect weather week Snowdonia seems to experience. Around 40 foreign guests mix with 40 hosts and simply go climbing. Each morning a squad of mini buses awaits the consensus of opinion as venues and routes are discussed over breakfast. The climbing is varied ? with gnarly eastern Europeans making light work of the bold slate routes, and tentative sport climbers making their first forays onto traditionally protected classics ? but always fun and in good spirit. The evenings are filled with banter in the bar, and slide shows by the various visitors. As usual hosts are required to show the foreign guests just how good the climbing in North Wales is. Hosts need to be experienced trad climbers, but not necessarily climbing the hardest grades. Ideally you will be able to go for the whole week, but if you can only manage a few days then you are still welcome to apply. There is a cost of £60 for the week which will cover your food, accommodation, and transport ? an absolute bargain. If you´re able to make it then please contact becky@thebmc.co.uk  / 0161 438 3302 for an application form.  Successful applicants will be contacted nearer the time. Note that applicants must be over 18.
