Macleod climbs Ring of Steall 8c+

Dave Macleod has climbed a longstanding project on Steall Crag, Glen Nevis to give Ring of Steall, 8c+.Dave had tried the line intermittently for ten years. Ring of Steall was originally bolted and tried by legendary Scottish hardman Dave ´Cubby´ Cuthbertson in the early nineties.  Ring of Steall, 8c+ Steall Crag, Glen Nevis(photo: Claire Macleod, courtesy of http://www.davemacleod.blogspot.com/) Dave admitted to a somewhat unconventional celebration for completeing a decade´s project, “When I got to the belay I had to slap myself and confirm with Claire that it had actually just happened and I wasn?t dreaming.” Ring of Steall involves an 8a+ followed by an Egyptian from an “evil, sloping crimp”. “Having completed this route, if I had to give up climbing tomorrow due to some disaster, I?d be satisfied with my effort. It?s the first time I?ve ever felt that. Climbing it has confirmed in my mind something I felt for the first time after climbing Rhapsody (E11) ; We can really do anything, and I mean anything we want,” Dave says in his blog.
