by Dave Pickford & Nick Colton Gaz Parry in the Planet Fear BLCC 2008 Following the success of the 2007 BLCC held at the Blackpool Towers, last weekend the planetFear British lead Climbing Championships returned to Britain´s most unusual climbing wall. Despite being subject to continual gale force winds howling down off Morecambe Bay, we saw two days of extremely impressive performances from Britain´s top competition climbers and rock athletes. Full report and photo essay on planetFear.comSaturday Results: Female Junior 1stShauna Coxsey 2nd Kitty Wallace 3rdRebbecca Hall Male Junior 1st Jonathan Stocking 2ndLuke Tilley 3rd Ross Kirkland Male Veteran 1st Nick Colton 2ndIan Dunn 3rd Mike Watson The Senior Finals – by Nick Colton The senior female route was another powerfully steep route.Hannah Beresford was first out and set the standard before Audrey Seguy eventually managed to get just beyond her high point by the smallest of margins. The senior male final was an immensely long route. In its lower partit consisted of the tufa route used in previous categories with a few key holds removed for good measure.It then continued to the very top of the steepest leg via a series of tenuous moves on small holds!The top three men reached the same point.However, Gareth Parry won on count back to retain his title.
