Snowdonia Park ´n´ Ride

Parkn? Ride in Snowdonia ? is it what you want? On January 14, Capel Curig hosted the first of a series of community meetings in the Snowdonia area to discuss a new initiative entitled the Green Key Strategy. The Green Key Strategy is about improving the economic performance of the area and is based around a Park and Ride scheme. As you can imagine, the debate and discussion were fierce. The problems encountered during Foot and Mouth when much of the roadside parking was curtailed and visitors had to use a Sherpa bus has not been forgotten; and while the residents of Capel Curig are keen to see an improved public transport service and opportunities to improve visitor facilities, inline with visitor needs, they do not want to see the closure of parking spaces within the Snowdon area. The consultation is in its initial stages, but comments on the strategy which can be found on www.eryi-npa.gov.uk, www.gwyndd.gov.uk, www.conwy.gov.uk can be sent to Gwenllian Owens, Planning and Economic Development Department, Council Offices, Caernarfon, Gwynedd, LL55 1SH. The BMC have asked that a users focus group is set-up as part of the consultation process, so that the views of outdoor recreationists and other visitors to Snowdonia are also represented in the consultation process. Thanks to the BMC
