The Stanage bus service, intended to be an environment- and climber-friendly way to get folk from the centre of Sheffield to the Peak District crags, has been discontinued because too few people were using it. The BMC had been pushing the bus, which would save people taking their cars (a potential target for thieves) to crags, but equally meant you had to climb to a bus schedule. The bus lost. Comments and suggestions about the stopping of the service are welcomed (we´re told) at enquiry@sheffieldct.co.uk and clare@thebmc.co.uk.
