Steve McClure Onsights Another 8b

On a very recent trip to the South of France, an on-form Steve McClure continued to make impressively light work of dozens of the area?s hard sport routes. During his three week trip, Steve concentrated mainly on on-sighting but also spent three days trying the famously hard 8c+ Biography at Ceuse. Having made encouraging progress on the route Steve hopes to make it back out there next spring and finish the job off; and possibly try the extension, recently climbed by Chris Sharma and given the tentative grade of 9a+.The days spent on Biography, combined with rest days and visits to other crags left Steve with only 6 days climbing at Ceuse. He managed to flash two 7c+?s and on-sight three, flash one 8a and on-sight three, as well as flashing an 8a+ and on sighting one!Three days at Orpierre, Orgon and Roche Des Arnaud lead to a 7c+ and an 8a flash, as well as an 8a+ on sight, and a sub ten minute red point of an 8b after a narrowly missed flash attempt.A quick day trip to Volx for Steve?s first visit to the crag produced rather an impressive display of on sighting. After flashing one 8a he then went on to on sight another, followed by two 8a+?s on sight and one 8b (L?Empire De Sans) on sight, putting the clips in as he went!Steve has just finished his job and is currently beginning a year or so of full time climbing; taking in some trad and sport climbing around the UK, trips to the US, Spain, Asia and France.
