gua A while back we reported that climbing would feature at the Winter Olympics as a fringe demonstration event. Basically the local Mayor invited a bunch of well known climbers to attend the Winter Olympics and climb on a collection of walls and boulders. The intention was to raise the profile of the sport and encourage some of the other athletes to come and have a go. It seems that all did not go quite according to plan. The following two reports give a mixed opinion on the whole affair. 8a.nu USAClimbing A wee reminder that the BMC are still seeking hosts for the Summer International Meet at Plas Y Brenin in May. See previous report. Also the BMC have reported that two large columns of rock have become dangerously loose at Horseshoe Quarry in the Peak District. The columns are in the vicinity of Monkey Stole My Walkman and A Right Earful. Climbers are advised to be very careful in the area.
