Bill Wallace Grant Available Now

The Bill Wallace grant – ?Go and do it ? ?  which has been established by the John Muir Trust is offering funding of up to £1000 to individuals who are setting up expeditions to wild places. Bill was an enthusiastic supporter of the Trust and of Scottish mountaineering. He was a great adventurous traveller and climber, and even in his seventies was organising and leading trips to Greenland.  The grant is intended to support those who, like him, want to venture into wild places and to contribute to their conservation.If you are planning or thinking about an expedition next  year have a look at  the guidelines below and  attached application form . The Bill Wallace Grant A grant of £500 – £2,000 will be made on merit to a person who wishes to “go – and do it” in the spirit of Bill Wallace. The project will involve travel to wild places, must be adventurous, of educational or scientific significance ? and be a life changing experience leading to a commitment to practical action to conserve wild places. Eligible will be …… ? People of all ages? People of all abilities? People with a Scottish interest? People of all races and ethnic backgrounds? People who like Bill can show stoicism, determination and commitment? People who can convince the grant panel that they shall “go – and do it!”The Bill Wallace Grant committee will announce the successful applicants at the end of February. The committee will select the successful candidates against the eligibility criteria detailed above. In addition the committee are more likely to fund independent expeditions organised by the applicant and individuals whose financial need is greatest.
