Marine Climber Goes AWOL – maybe…

This story certainly takes the biscuit for weirdest scenario of the month! Rock & Ice have the full report (which is worth reading). In a nutshell two mates, both climbers hence the relevance to reporting this on planetFear, have just pulled off a bit of an expensive stunt in Eldorado Canyon. One, a marine, didn´t fancy heading back to work after a break, so had his mate report him missing after a fall whilst climbing. After a week of searching, involving 10,000 man-hours, the reporter admitted that it was a hoax! There was some blood at the supposed scene of the accident, and the ´missing´ marine is still AWOL, so the case is not closed and foul play has not been ruled out.
