This years Kendal Mountain Festival takes place between 9-18th November with the main weekend 16-18th. As usual there will be a mix of lectures, films and the 25th Anniversary celebration of the Boardman Tasker award. Highlights include the big-screen premiere of the follow-up to Touching The Void. The Beckoning Silence is a drama-documentary adapted from Joe Simpson?s best-selling book, and created by the same team that made the BAFTA-award-winning ?Void. The screening is on Saturday 17th November at 9:30am and afterwards there?s the chance to hear how the film was made with Joe Simpson and the production team. On Sunday 18th there?s two exclusive items devoted to Patagonia. Famed extreme cameraman Leo Dickinson presents the world premiere of ?Return to the Paine?, created after Leo discovered an unknown and incomplete film of the first ascent of the Central Tower of Paine by Chris Bonington and Don Whillans. This is followed by recollections and readings by Simon Yates from his remarkable book on Paine, ?Against the Wall?.Alistair Lee will also premiere three new ?short? films on Saturday 17th. Alistair?s films have won several awards at previous Kendal festivals, so again this is something not to miss. ?They?re all part of the same production called Psyche?, says Alistair. ?There´ll be some warm-up ?shorts? then the three main films with Dave Birkett, Steve McClure, Andy Kirkpatrick and Ian Parnell there to introduce the films.?Over the week there will be a series of lectures from a number of well-known climbers including: Andy Cave, Leo Houlding, Chris Bonnignton, Greg Child, Will Gadd, Jack Tackle, Thomas Huber and Neil Gresham.
