This weekend saw the Arco Rock Masters take place in Italy. Billed as the premier awards ceremony for the best lead, bouldering and competition climbers the event also holds it´s own ´invitation only´ lead, boulder and speed competition. Gaz Parry was invited due to the outstanding year he is having on both the competiton and real rock (see below) and on Saturday Gaz continued his good form to win the bouldering competition ahead of a strong field including last years winner Nalle Hukkataival. In the leading competition, Ramon Julian (Spn) won the mens while Angela Eiter (Aus) won the womens.In the awards ceremony (voted for by 14 climbing magazines from around the world) the Salewa Rock Award (climber who distinguishes himself most at climbing or bouldering) went to Patxi Usobiaga for his fantastic year which saw him make a 9a first ascent, 2nd 8c onsight and a host of 8b+ onsights. The La Sportiva Competition Award went to the 17 year old David Lama for his superb achievements on the senior competition circuit in his first full debut year.
