Following on from earlier reports that the Marine Drive on the Great Orme, Llandudno that suffered a rock fall affecting access, Guy Keating from the BMC reports: The BMC has received confirmation from Great Ormes Country Park that a section of the Marine Drive (and the climbing) will be closed for the next 10 days. The recent heavy rain appears to have destabilised an area of rock near the Pen Trwyn headland to give a fairly large rock fall and some residual loose areas. None of the recorded routes have been affected. Contractors will be clearing the rockfall, scaling loose rock and reparing the road from Monday (01/10/07) onwards, and it is anticipated this will take a week to complete. Therefore, climbing is not available between the Toll Gate House and the End of the Road crags during this perod. The Country Park have also requested that climbers do not visit Lower Pen Trwyn at this time as a safety precaution during rock-scaling work. The Orme´s remaining crags are still available and can be accessed via Ty Gwyn and the St. Tudno´s Rd.Source: BMC
