We thought you?d like to know the popular Wan Dae adventure racing series is back for 2007.There are three Wan Daes to go for, from April to September. If you fancy giving Adventure Racing a go for the first time, or are a seasoned AR fiend, this is the series for you.
Run, bike, and achieve ?surprise tasks? in some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland. Wan Dae racing is about challenge, and having a great day out with your friends. These are the perfect events for trying this for the first time without fear of getting too lost or left behind. Everyone starts and finishes at the same place at the same time, but the faster teams will be able to travel further collecting more points along the way.You can enter in a team of two, three or four of any gender mix, so it?s easy to put a team together. Teams can enter in the 5 hour Simply Blended Class or 8 hour Cask Strength Class. The race format is a score system, so you can pick and choose your own route; guile and cunning will be as useful as your fitness. Optional activities include kayaking and navigation or you can continue to collect points on bike or foot. The first Wan Dae is 14th April at Drumlanrig Castle, Dumfriesshire. The home of the Duke of Buccleuch, the castle provides a grand backdrop. The scenery is some of the most beautiful south of the Highlands. The place to be on 30th June is the Isle of Arran, for the second Wan Dae. The race will be headquartered close to the ferry terminal so racers can travel light as foot passengers and keep costs down. Arran is often described as ?Scotland in miniature?, come along and make a real weekend of the many things to see and do on the island. The racing continues on September 8th, when the final round of the series will visit the Pentland Hills outside Edinburgh. The planetFear mobile shop will be at all the Wan Daes, with hundreds of special event deals. Series Director, John Laughlin comments: ?The 2007 series venues have got me really excited and it?s going to be a great year ahead. We had a great start in 2006 but we know the word is spreading about adventure events in Scotland as we can see from the phenomenal entries into The Mighty Deerstalker adventure run in March. We hope we can convince many more people to try their hand at something a little different in the outdoors in 2007 and a Wan Dae event is the ideal way to start.?
